Back to Taiwan
I'm now back in my old warm home. Well, actually it's quite cold here. I came back on Monday's night, and yesterday was said to be the coldest day of this winter so far. Lucky me!!

As I said, I'll have a new blog. It's hard to cast away this place, although it's already been desolated.

Happy New Year!
it's a bit late, but I still want to wish everyone a very happy new year! (and happy birthday to Selmin too!) I've been quite busy recently for the finals. The courses just finished on the last day of 2004, but it's not the end. Next Monday I'll have final exam for English, then papers, papers, papers... Can't get relexed for the New Year at all, isn't it quite miserable to some extent?

By the way, after watching "Fahrenheit 911" last night, I just feel I'm too blessed and ain't complain about those tiny troubles in my daily life anymore!! And it reminds me of the horrible ties between politics and business and there have been numerous examples all through history...

Anyway, I gonna change my blog to another place. Can't stand the Great Firewall any more. Haven't modified the template yet, and don't have much time these days. Maybe I'll do it during my winter vacation. (haha)

Before Sunset
Last weekend we bought several DVDs. Originally I just wanted to see if there's "Closer" on DVD, and the answer was no. At last we picked 10 DVDs while 90% of them are romantic comedy, except "Master and Commander," which was of course picked by Ye. The biggest surprise was finding "Before Sunset" by chance! At first I didn't realize it's the sequel of "Before Sunrise" until Ye asked me about that. So surprised!! Really surprised!! And of course I watched it right away. Love it definitely, and I think it's even greater than "Before Sunrise." It answered the biggest questions which I think everyone wanted to ask after watching "Before Sunrise" while it also left even more questions to the viewer.

December
Ah, it's already December. Last week, many shops already began putting christmas decoration. But now I feel it so strange: why the hell do you celebrate Christmas?? I think I have this kind of feeling after coming back from Finland, where Christmas is really a big matter there, even in their language December is called "joulukuu" which means "the month of Christmas." One month before Christmas, there are already many pre-celebration or religious activities. And everyone is preparing for its coming, like buying gifts, foods, decorating their home, and the most important is going back home for reunion. I think it's really like the Chinese New Year, and it has its own cultural background. But here in Asia, what the hell do you also celebrate it?! Last Thursday my classmates asked me how would I celebrate "Thanksgiving?" I just felt more ridiculous. Sorry, did I mention that I'm kind of cynic now? :P

Behind the Great Firewall
Ah, how long have I not update my blog?? I've never imagined that I could get rid of internet addiction, but the Great Firewall of China helped me to do it! Amazing!

But I depend on internet a lot. When I want to look for some information, I'll think of logging on to internet, and then condemn the damn blockage. Like Google, the "cache page" is forbidden, while I'm used to it to find info more quickly. Once I heard a local student said, "the firewall is like a window screen that the mosquito will not get in but the fresh air." Faint! What can I say? It's just one small part. There are lots of many other limits... and make me really feel suffocated. "It's China. You've to get used to it." Alas!! Sometimes it really pisses me off and turns me into cynical.

new cameras
Ye's been crazy on internet auction and bought 3 gadgets: Canon PowerShot A75, Casio EX-Z55 and Creative MuVo2 FM. It's a promotion program held by Yahoo who just started a new Chinese auction site with Sina. He got A75 last week and the rest two yesterday. I've used A75 to take some pictures. Check them below.

I've been really busy recently and has no much time on internet. Especially when I want to connect to foreign sites outside "Mainland" China, I've to find proxies. It's really exhausting. Sometimes even via proxy, I can't connect to some sites, such as those foreign news sites or Taiwanese government sites. It's unbelievably annoying, uh!!

delights of diligence
Today is Saturday, the weekend, but I've been and still am studying the whole afternoon in Ye's office while he is working hard on updating their website, too. What a diligent couple we are!? Maybe workholics both of us. But I'm really absorberd in my study, and got some fun from such devotion, forgetting rest, forgetting dinner, trying to understand about the different versions of Chinese Buddhist Sutras... I must have been out of my mind! ...while I actually have another important work to do about researching the chronologies of the wooden buildings in Beijing Confucious Temple and the Imperial College and writing a paper before next Wednesday. My class went there this Wednesday to do field survey. It's strange. Sometimes you just have no mind to do the real, urgent work, but can't help being attracted to something else...hopelessly...

wordsworth's garden
for oft when on my couch I lie
in vacant or in pensive mood,
they flash upon that inward eye
which is the bliss of solitude;
and then my heart with pleasure fills,
and dances with the daffodils.
